Gee Morris' first foray into popular music was in 1988 with the high energy remake of The Isley Brothers "This Old Heart Of Mine", produced by Hi-NRG pioneer Ian Levine. Though not very successful, this garnered her enough attention to get backing vocal gigs with everyone from Stevie Wonder to Pet Shop Boys to Donny Osmond. Thanks to this session work, she was noticed by Brit production trio Jolley/Harris/Jolley, who were in the midst of recording demos for what would become the act Innocence. Gee became the face of the act and they had a great deal of success in the UK in the early 1990's with their electronic soul music. They released two awesome albums, Belief and Build. But Gee wanted to release something using her own name, so she hooked up with producer Steve Vincent, who with his dance act Adventures Of Stevie V had had quite a bit of chart success. For her solo work, Vincent kept the soul vibe people were familiar with from Innocence but added some of the house and R&B elements that made Adventures Of Stevie V a hit. Somehow the formula failed to get noticed, and so did Gee's album. She has not recorded an album since, but according to her Myspace page she has continued working extensively, most recently recording with the man that started it all, Ian Levine.Gee met the JHJ Production partnership, whilst on a session for newly formed music agency (at the time), Session Connection - Clicked... and soon after proceeded to produce a single, 'Natural Thing' initially release by New York Recording Label 'Profile'.
The record caused a bit of a buzz and soon caught the interest of Chrysalis/Cooltempo UK who were interested enough to sponsor/sign an album 'Belief' for Gee Morris a.k.a. Innocence, produced by JHJ, sound engineered (& co-written some tracks) by Phil Dane & predominantly played and co-written by Matt Rowe (later famed for Spice Girls 1st Album co-writes & production).
So INNOCENCE was born.
INNOCENCE were one of the first great ambient soul bands of the nineties, spawning seven hit records in U.K. & around Europe, Australia & Japan including the groundbreaking track NATURAL THING, also hit in several countries around the world, and such timeless classics as SILENT VOICE and LET'S PUSH IT
The album BELIEF was an award winning album and classed as one of the greats of its genre. Predominantly, produced and written by Jolley Harris Jolley, the tracks from the album went on to be used for more than twenty major campaigns around the world including FIAT CARS, DISNEYWORLD and the BBC. Gee Morris a.k.a. Innocence also co-wrote and co-produced several tracks on both Albums - Belief & Build, with Billy Osborne, Co-writes also with Toby Baker & Matt Rowe. The fantastic sound engineered by Phil Dane (co-write on Promise of Love).
The album, singles and compilations continues to sell as a back catalogue album/compilation and online.
Blessed with the success of 7 top 40 singles 3 of which were top 20 and a Gold album in the UK & Germany. With chart hits - especially in Germany (where Gee toured for over a year), Holland, France, Spain and Italy. Also enjoyed great success in Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Even got a U.S. billboard rating for the single 'Silent Voice' for which Gee was awarded the 'Key To the City of New Jersey' presented by the Mayor (no less . . :0)).
The Innocence album ‘Belief’ went on to sell over 1 million copies worldwide winning a Best Album of the Year award in 1990 and subsequently hailed as the forerunner to the ambient sound of the ‘90’s, inspiring subsequent bands such as Massive Attack and Leftfield.
Gee performed for a Channel 4 Special called Dance Daze and appeared on quite a few Music Shows - TV & Radio - around Europe promoting the singles. Performed on an HMO Special and did the U.S. SEMA Tour.
Prior to Innocence Gee worked with a number of Artist such as Paul Johnson; Jools Holland (TV); Paul Carrick (TV); Darryl Pandy (TV); Paul Young (Studio); Stevie Wonder (TV & Studio); Studio Sessions with Ian Levine producer; LA Mix (Video); Yes/No People (Live & PA gigs, UK); Heaven 17 (PA/TV gigs UK & Europe); Erasure (Live & Studio); Duran Duran (Video); Simply Red (live - Ireland); Boy George (Video); Richard Darbyshire - Living In A Box (Video); Pet Shop Boys (Studio); Dance with a Stranger (Live - Norway); Jonathon Butler (Live); Donny Osmond (TV UK); Stevie Wonder; Ruby Turner (Live); Gabrielle (Live) to name a few and many others since such as, Alexander O'Neal; Fierce; Shola Ama; Lemar Obika; Matt Goss... over the years.

Gee has also recently worked @ the Indigo2 with several artist(e)s including Evelyn Champagne King, Gwen McCrae, Alexander O'Neal, Tom Browne... & scheduled for more to come!
Co-written, recorded and released a few singles with a few producers. All different genres, but all good stuff. Listen out for them!
Recently did 4 collaborations with Ian Levine (Take That /Northern Soul producer) & producer Clive Scott (recently deceased) and co-wrote a few Northern Soul Beauties for 4 of his albums launched July 07, Dec 07, 2008 & 2010 (still waiting for my copy of the last track tho... um?!)!
