This is the long and crazy story of a street-musician, wine lover, founder of bands, vagabond, shit-smoker, mouth-organ player and truck-driver who has recorded the soundtrack to the road movie of his life: Peter Seiler, born in 1947 in Zurich, has since become a close friend and interesting character in Canton Aargau’s lively jazz scene. Rhythm & Blues were his first musical steps, Kerouac and Ginsberg his spiritual companions, Lovecraft his first own (rock) band. By the end of the 80ies Seiler founded SEI LIEB, playing the drums himself. Too old to take drumming seriously, he soon found, besides, the others are all better at it anyway. So he began to write music. Plenty of time to think about grooves, structures and sounds while sitting at the wheel of his 28-ton-truck crossing Europe from North to South. So after several years of driving and work with a sextet formed out of the best of contemporary Swiss jazz musicians (including his next-door neighbour Urs Blöchlinger) Peter Seiler finally has released his first CD: "Sei-Lieb - Le Chauffeur" is a semi-autobiographical sound-book, reflecting the wit and humor of its composer. 11 tunes full of energy, drive, grooves and good solos. Le Chauffeur takes the topsy turvey road of life as it is, with all its ups and downs. Jazz with a good grip.
