1. is based on a serial matrix, and violates just about every rule od serial composition.
2. is about going to sleep in Iowa, while hearing train whistles from twenty miles away.
3. is composed to the word-rhythm of the poem "Miles D", by Pamela Moore-Dionne. The sole instruction going in was that we would play each theme only once.
This recording was made using the Blaumlein Technique. Two stereo mics were placed one over the other, at a ninety-degree angle, and the musicians gathered in a circle around them.
