Liner notes
This is an extraordinarily rich album in musical invention and feeling. Tapajos and Einhorn, together with a bass player of the class or Arismar do Espmto Santo have produced a work which is certain to become a classic of instrumental Brazilian music.
The art of this trio, the most perfect and organic imaginable, which supports the whole musical structure, allows a single view of the work while at the same time freeing each individual to follow the suggestions and intuitions of his own fancy within the structure of the group.
This LP gives a coherent image of creative autonomy within a predominantly jazz treatment without denying the basic elements of Brazilian music which blossom with greater or lesser intensity as the creative moment demands.
The album is essentially rhythmic in content and, yet, dispenses with the need for drum accompaniment, the absence of which is hard to note as the required.
The result is quite superb, producing very much the intimacy of chamber music.
In this performance Mauricio Einhorn and Sebastiao Tapajos are able to create an intimate and elegant atmosphere which fuses into a single harmony of sound.
Mauricio shows off his true jazz nature and evokes on his harmonica the full range of other instruments, from the clarinet to the violin. The rich experiences of many years have made him the best harmonica player in Brazil and one of the best in the world in jazz. And Sebastiao, with a technique that has won him acclaim the world over, does both the expected and unexpected on his guitar, achieving the most delicate nuances, the most intimate vibrations, the sonorous filigrees that are characteristic of his playing.
Recorded after little rehearsal, this record is a clear demonstration of the spontaneity and sensibility of the Brazilian musician!
