Об исполнителе (группе)
Vermont native Hillary Capps (vocals, ukulele, guitar, piano) is known for her ability to meld together the roots of classic jazz music with modern pop sensibilities. With strong female influences such as Sara Bareilles and Adele, Hillarys pop-oriented music encompasses subtle jazz phrasings and catchy melodies that display a mature songwriting style and tight musicianship.
Raised in a musical family, Capps pursued music into her teenage years by taking voice lessons and learning jazz standards. By the time she was 16, Capps was singing with her Dad's jazz group at weddings and events around New England. After relocating to New York City for college, Capps released a full-length album of jazz standards, A Perfect Dozen, in 2008. In 2010, Capps released Playlist, an album of covers and joined the rock band Cheers to Fall shortly thereafter. Hillary Capps formed her own band during her senior year at The New School, releasing an EP titled Maybe in the Morning, a true reflection of her musical inspiration.
Hillary was recently named one of the Deli Magazine's top NYC based indie-pop artists, she played an Official CMJ 2013 Showcase, performed in Times Square during the 2013 CBGB Festival alongside acts like Grizzly Bear, My Morning Jacket, Lisa Loeb and many more. The singer recently opened for Judith Hill (20 Feet From Stardom, Michael Jackson's This Is It, The Voice). Capps' first full-length album, The Wishing Forest, was recorded in Brooklyn, NY at Vinegar Hill Sound and mixed at the legendary Electric Lady Studios by Michael Brauer (Coldplay, John Mayer, Christina Perri, The Rolling Stones). The new album was released on January 21st, 2014.
"Hillary Capps has quickly become known for her ability to meld together the roots of classic jazz music with modern pop sensibilities..." (Pens Eye View).
"'New Melody' sees Capps diving into contemorary pop, and the results are pretty fantastic..." (Arena).
"'Maybe in the Morning' is basically perfect. There are no frills or extras to take away from Hillarys pure talent. Instead, Capps blows you away with her signature fairy-like voice. Its a great EP, but it could be the start to an even better full-length" (Truth or Sarah).

Hillary Capps records her latest project “Playlist”. It’s a mix of pop, jazz, latin, even a bit of folk music. It’s a bunch of tunes she’s just been wanting to record. The band is great, consisting mostly of the University of Vermont Jazz Faculty. Tom Cleary on piano, Jeff Salisbury on drums, John Rivers on bass, Joe Capps on guitar, Ray Vega on trumpet, and guest artists Chris Peterman on tenor sax, Joey Somerville on trumpet, Amber deLaurentis sings the chorus on the hit “You belong to me” and Lena Capps sings on Drown in my own tears. Check it out!
