Singer, saxophonist and songwriter Curtis Stigers is somewhat of an endangered species in the music industry: he records the music he loves, for a label that supports him, and has had a successful career for over three decades deftly migrating through varied genres, and often merging them.
The antidote for Curtis somber Let's Go Out Tonight, Hooray for Love is a celebration of this universal human condition. A seamless combination of old and new songs recorded with jazz musicians and a jazz sensibility. Tracks include George and Ira Gershwin's "Love Is Here to Stay," Steve Earle's "Valentine's Day" and Curtis' own, self-pennned title track. Newcomer, French chanteuse Cyrill Aimee does a duet with Curtis on "You Make Me Feel So Young," a tune made famous by Frank Sinatra.
