Three ' Podium Prijs ' winners (all three born in 1957) and two ' Boy Edgar Prijs ' winners (the most important oeuvre award for jazzmusiciens in the Netherlands), in one trio.
When Jan Kuiper received the ‘Podium Prijs’in 1985, he invited the two former prize winners for a trio concert. Since then this unique trio has worked together untill 1998. During these 13 years they have performed over 200 hundred national- and international concerts in Europe and Canada and toured several times with Cornell Rochester and Jamaaladeen Tacuma as well and did incidental projects with David Murray, Kelvin Bell, George Lewis, de Volharding a.o.
The Podium Trio have released one album ('Live in Montreal' 1986) and three cd's: 'Take One' 1994, 'Live in Koln' 1996 with Tacuma and Rochester and 'Live at the Concertgebouw' 1998.
The Podium Trio play their own compositions and all three musiciens individually have their own bands and national- and international projects and are on the ‘scene’ for over 25 years.
