…we’ve just cleaned up The House Of RYXP (our home), and in the process we’ve come over some edits, bootlegs & unreleased nuggets from the Röyksopp archives, that we intend to share with you over the next few months - starting now! And since we want these bits & pieces to be gifts, we will of course give them to you all completely free of charge. Yeah!
First up is an instrumental version of our own song “Vision One” (from Junior). This track has been chosen by us, since we’ve noticed that some fans out there have been looking for this particular song for mash-up/edit purposes etc. So have fun, make you own versions and make us proud!
…Steve Reich, the composer? Why, of course you have! Well, for some reason unknown to us, we have been experiencing an inexplicable urge to make an edit of one of his tracks, called Electric Counterpoint: III. Fast.
We wanted to make our own version of this beautiful piece of music, adding beats and bass, and at the same time stay 100% true to the original arrangement. However, for our needs, we respectfully (although some might say cheekily) altered the whole song from a 3/4 to a 4/4 time signature. Not unlike how The Orb did it in their 90′s classic Little Fluffy Clouds. Actually, editing and experimenting with this piece of music turned out to be great fun!
So much fun, in fact, that we wanted to depart further from the original, and create yet another version. This time, using the tone quality of the original sample as a starting point, we embarked on an analog-fueled journey into repetitive madness and harmonic bliss.

It’s called “Hus Nr. 9″, and is currently haunting the halls of the RYXP mansion.
Hi, dear fans and followers.
We have swum out of the mire to present you with a ‘farewell to summer’ tune. It is a melancholic mash-up of sorts, using elements from a few sources, with the track ‘This Space’, by the excellent Woolfy vs. Projections as the starting point. The original can be found here. As usual, we have gone on a complete journey with this, and think we have come up with a perfect late summer cinematic – we hope you agree!
A strange name for a track, perhaps. But, dear readers, it really is a strange track. It has some obvious shortcomings, we’re not gonna lie. It shows some promise, then fades away. We found it on a floppy disk lying between some rotten fruit and a bag of dead skin.
Still, we enjoy it, and it is our most humble hope that you can enjoy it too!

Röyksopp taking their morning-stroll through the enchanted forest of Lyngen. And they bring gifts. This month we’ll unleash a fan-favorite (that’s what we’ve been told at least…) that we’ve played live occasionally – the loud and proud I Wanna Know!
This track marks the return of Röyksopp’s energetic elaborate sonic’s.
Wait a minute, just one ‘track of the month’ for both months?
Ok, please allow us to explain: A separate track, initially destined to become ‘track of the month’ November, HAS been made. However, an unexpected opportunity rose, and after careful deliberation we decided to not to use it as a ‘track of the month’ November. All we can say at this point is that we are going to use it in the future. Sorry about this, but we assure you that it is for the better in the long run. That has left us with just one track for both November and December. We hope you understand.
Now that that’s over with, let’s get to the good stuff. This time around, on the receiving end of our special treatment we find an instrumental ‘harp only’ version of a well known Christmas song; the very old-school Le Cantique de Noël. We went to a strange place with this one, fusing drums, choir and SFX together to create a version that perhaps is a bit like what a person in the early 1970′s could imagine Christmas music would sound like in the future. The future, like in 2010.
So, we hope you like it, and whatever you do this season, HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM RöYKSOPP!
Gem O’hoy!
This month’s Track Of The Month is truly a gem, if we might say so ourselves! It predates Melody AM, and was long a hot candidate to be part of the album itself (Melody AM, that is). We could, however, not find space for it back then, but – with Track Of The Month and millions of hungry fans to feed, this is the right time for the track to shine…
Other intriguing trivia:
➲ The track is called Stronghold
➲ It was recorded on a demented Atari & an Akai s1000
➲ It was also recorded on an empty stomach
➲ Stronghold was one out of nine tracks on the infamous Jesudas LP which we gave out to friends around 1999. This highly sought after item (again – if we might say so…) contained 9 tracks that didn’t make it on to Melody AM.
➲ Jesudas was given a lot of praise in extremely closed circuits (mainly friends and fellow musicians) in fact, so much that a thirteen-track version also got made & thrown around town. This version, though, was released in extremely limited amounts only 6 CDs were made…
➲ Yes, all of the above is true.

This time around, on the receiving end of our special treatment we find an instrumental ‘harp only’ version of a well known Christmas song; the very old-school Le Cantique de Noël. We went to a strange place with this one, fusing drums, choir and SFX together to create a version that perhaps is a bit like what a person in the early 1970′s could imagine Christmas music would sound like in the future. The future, like in 2010.

Gem O’hoy!
This month’s Track Of The Month is truly a gem, if we might say so ourselves! It predates Melody AM, and was long a hot candidate to be part of the album itself (Melody AM, that is). We could, however, not find space for it back then, but – with Track Of The Month and millions of hungry fans to feed, this is the right time for the track to shine…
Other intriguing trivia:
➲ The track is called Stronghold
➲ It was recorded on a demented Atari & an Akai s1000
➲ It was also recorded on an empty stomach
➲ Stronghold was one out of nine tracks on the infamous Jesudas LP which we gave out to friends around 1999. This highly sought after item (again – if we might say so…) contained 9 tracks that didn’t make it on to Melody AM.
➲ Jesudas was given a lot of praise in extremely closed circuits (mainly friends and fellow musicians) in fact, so much that a thirteen-track version also got made & thrown around town. This version, though, was released in extremely limited amounts only 6 CDs were made…
