Initially composed for sextet, the project expanded in size following enthusiastic feedback from the Orquestra Nacional Do Porto who ultimately played a major part in the final recordingThe distinctive voices of Linx and Joao are a key component of this ambitious work. Both share a willingness to experiment - Linx utilising skills honed in jazz and Joao (who some will recall working with Joe Zawinul and Trilok Gurtu amongst others) drawing on elements of ethnic musics and the avant garde. Initially performed in concert (and recorded in September 2008) “Follow The Songlines” is inspired by cities that Linx, Joao, Wissells and Laginha have known during their travels.
