The musicians were relatively old-school even then: Buck Clayton (trumpet) and Vic Dickenson (trombone), from the Kansas City scene; Pee Wee Russell (clarinet) and Bud Freeman (tenor sax) from the Chicago school; and Champ Jones (bass), Jake Hanna (drums), and festival promoter George Wein (piano). The music alternates between New Orleans-style ensemble playing and soloing; Clayton, Russell, and Freeman all do good work, and George Wein plays a pretty good piano too. The most distinctive tracks are "Dinah", which is given a slow arrangement, and "Pee Wee Russell's Unique Sound", a showcase for the clarinetist's individualistic style.  СоставBuck Clayton - trumpet Vic Dickenson - trombone Bud Freeman - tenor saxophone Pee Wee Russell - clarinet George Wein - piano Champ Jones - bass Jake Hanna - drums
