Equipment:
* Vpi HW-17F Record Cleaning Machine
* Heybrook TT2 with Origin Live! power supply and DC motor
* Rega RB 300 tonearm (Origin Live! mod)
* Lyra Helikon M/C Cartridge
* Denon PMA 8500 (M/C phono section)
* ESI Systems Juli@ A/D
* Adobe Audition 1.5 / 3.0
Method:
- Record cleaned on Vpi machine.
- Audio sampled at 192/32 float. (This was an archived recording I made some 5 years ago, stored on DVD data disc until restoration in the last month.)
- Adobe Audition 3.0 Scientific Filter roll-off frequencies below 20 HZ (this doesn't 'sound' of anything, it merely flattens out the waveform for easier editing).
Audio restoration:
- Manual declick and deglitch.
- Denoising treatments were not necessary.
- Fades were treated with a noise 'footprint' based 'mono'(sum) greatly reducing it's audibility while maintaining 100% musical frequency content).
- All whole sides normalized to 100% NEVER using compression or limiting.
- Tracks seperated at 0.5 seconds before start of next song or at natural breaks in seguйed songs.
Synopsis:
I was lucky enough to find an unplayed copy. Some say these Dynaflex RCA pressings are not all they could be but I can't see anything wrong at all. A curious mix this, with some of the drum sounds close-miked yet down in the mix, lush stereo orchestrations fill the spaces at the sides and several percussion elements form 'hooks' throughout. Thankfully I had the Lyra Helikon M/C to make sense of it all. Enjoy!
