Review Pieces Of A Dream still sound wonderful after all these years -- definitely still at the top of the soulful fusion genre they virtually helped create a few decades back -- working with a bit more bite than most of the younger artists who've gone ahead and stolen their vibe. The core groove here still comes from drummer Curtis Harmon and keyboardist James Lloyd -- layered nicely with additional sax, guitar, and a bit more keyboards from a range of other players -- but always kept nice and lean, and never sanded too smooth to push these guys into the sleepier side of the spectrum. There's still a very classic feel to the Pieces Of A Dream groove here -- and even when tunes are mellow, there's a nice bit of a kick.
