The Texas Gypsies have an eclectic sound! Combining original and classic Vintage Swing, Gypsy jazz, Western Swing, New Orleans Jazz, Blues and Rockabilly styles!!
The Award winning Texas Gypsies compose and perform original and classic music influenced by the Vintage Jazzy Swingin cool hep cat sounds of the 20's-30's along with a taste of it's sister sound, Western Swing, a mix of Gypsy Jazz magic sprinkled over the top with a pinch of Retro Deco Rockabilly! The band mixes passionate violin, a blazing horn section, rocking swingin guitars, slappin upright bass, and retro style drumming to harmoniously create their own unique, fun and artistic sound!

Bringing together members of Cowboys & Indians and the Light Crust Doughboys, the Texas Gypsies is a 4-piece acoustic combo that combines gypsy jazz with western swing along with our own compositions. STEVE CURRY
Guitar & Vocals
Steve has studied various guitar styles at the Musicians Institute in LA and toured or recorded with diverse artists as The Jacksons, Boney James, Jeff Buckley, and many more. He has also played as a session guitarist on multiple television and film tracks for Disney, Cartoon Network, Fox and writes the original music for Texas Gypsies.
MIKE SIZER
Sax & Clarinet
Mike won the Outstanding Composition Award at NAJE in Chicago, Illinois. Mike has played with many of the greats including Bob Hope, Ella Fitzgerald, and the Dukes. Also a talented arranger/composer, some of his arrangements are still used by the Dukes of Dixieland, and his work can often be heard on PBS.
ANDREW GRIFFITH
Drums
Andrew is a graduate of The University of North Texas with a degree in music. He has been a fixture on the local DFW jazz scene providing a steady groove for many well-known and legendary artists and musicians for over 20 years and has performed with The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Wynton Marsalis and The Ink Spots.
JOHN HEWITT
Bass & Vocals
John plays bass and performs vocals for the Texas Gypsies. A graduate of the Arts Magnet High School in Dallas and East Texas State University, he has performed with many bands based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and has traveled with Tina Mandrell, Clint Strong and Maurice Anderson.
STEVE HOWARD
Trumpet
Steve went to Henderson State University and later, the jazz program at North Texas State University. Steve can be heard on hits such as Patti LaBelle’s Lady Marmalade and Paul McCartney’s Silly Love Songs. Steve continued to tour and record with Wings from 1975 to 1980, and he has also performed with Ray Charles, Dr. John and the Blues Brothers.
BROOK WALLACE
Violin & Vocals
Brook plays violin and performs vocals for the band. She started fiddle lessons at age 5; and by age 9, she held junior division titles for Texas State, she has competed in National and International competitions.
Some of her numerous achievements over the years include Kansas State Champion and the Rising Star of Texas Award.
