Also featuring pianist Richie Beirach and Pakistani percussionist Badal Roy, the music exhibits an uncommon sensitivity to space and texture, at once focused and spontaneously alive. Tusa's original compositions draw on modern and traditional jazz idioms as well as global music sensibilities, and for its complexities the record is both seamless and accessible.
