Об альбоме (сборнике)
Talent Discovery is something the layman very seldom has a chance to experience and voila!.......... Here is your chance to discover a dynamite artist still in the early stage of his career. This is not to say he is without experience or resource- to the contrary. Frank Derrick III started playing drums at the age of ten, with teachers that included the late Oliver Coleman, Roy C. Knapp, and Haskell Harr, while being inspired by many great drummers such as Grady Tate and Buddy Rich.
In Addition to leading The Frank Derrick Total Experience heard on this recording, which incidentally Frank put together at the age of nineteen, he has worked wit Clark Terry, Stevie Wonder, Les McCann, Quincy Jones, Ray Brown, Eldee Young, The Four Tops, Jerry Butler, Art Hodes, Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack. Frank Strives to be an all around musician, having done classical work with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra, Mid America Orchestra and others.
Frank was born in Chicago in 1950, into an exceptional musical environment. His Father, Frank Derrick Jr., is a very active professional musician-having worked with such notables as Duke Ellington, Earl "Fatha" Hines and many others. At present, The elder Frank is playing with this group and sharing the arranging duties with his son. His mother Geraldine Derrick, was also an active reed player who worked with the late Walter Dyett and many other leading Chicagoland bands.
This Album is a combination of some of the finest Chicago musicians performing live at Fiddlers where the band also plays regular Sunday night session. in this album you'll be able to hear and feel the fire and enthusiasm of these exceptional musicians.
For Frank Derrick III, this is his first recording under his own name. For you, the listener, a chance to discover today, a drummer and an artist that's on his way!...........You Betcha!
