Шаи Маестро - израильский пианист, композитор. Родился 5 февраля 1987 года, начал заниматься музыкой с пяти лет, в 8 услышал запись Оскара Питерсена "Plays The George Gershwin Song Book" и с тех пор увлекся джазом. Шаи окончил высшую школу изобразительных искусств Thelma – Yellin и музыкальную Академию в Иерусалиме, также в перод 2004-2010 гг. он получал стипендии от американо-израильского культурного Фонда и учился в Berklee College of Music. В 2002 и 2003 годах музыкант со своей группой побеждал в национальном джазовом конкурсе "Jazz Signs". Наибольшую известность Маестро принесло сотрудничество с Авишаем Коэном (см. десятый трек), с ним он выступал по всему миру на протяжении пяти лет и принял участие в записи четырех альбомов: от “Gently Disturbed” (2008) до “Seven seas” (2011). Также Шаи Маестро работал с Jimmy Green, Myron Walden, Ari Hoenig, Jonathan Blake, Mark Guiliana и др. В 2010-ом пианист впервые отыграл концерт с перуанским басистом Хорхе Рёдером и своим соотечественником Зивом Равицом за барабанами, выступление прошло очень успешно, и трио приобрело статус постоянного. "Shai Maestro Trio" - дебют Маестро в роли бэндлидера.

At the age of 8, child pianist Shai Maestro was exposed to Jazz for the first time when he heard Oscar Peterson play "Gershwin's Songbook." Since then, his path has split, and he has combined studying Classical music with Jazz throughout the years. Before turning 20, Maestro moved to New York. While studying, he began playing and working with leading Jazz artists. For five years, he played and recorded with the Avishai Cohen Trio.
After 5 years, 4 albums and countless concerts all over the world with world famous bass player, composer and singer Avishai Cohen, Shai Maestro had launched his own trio.
The Shai Maestro trio is brings fresh, imaginative, high octane music. The trio was formed in 2010 in New York City, with the Peruvian bass player, Jorge Roeder, and the Israeli drummer, Ziv Ravitz. After playing their first session together as a trio it was obvious that they had something unique. The trio began playing gigs a few months after that session and since, the music has kept evolving and gaining recognition from listeners and peers. All three are touring musicians with international careers, playing in festivals, theaters, concert halls and jazz clubs all over the globe. They perform simple and challenging music at one and the same time, integrating American standards, old Israeli songs and original songs by Maestro with a touch of Classical music flavor. Shai Maestro Trio had just finished a European tour and has recorded it’s debut record, to be released in April 2012 under Laborie Jazz label.
