The band was formed in 2006. The Spinshots consist of people with a different background:
Lead vocals: Flora Dolores. Born in Amsterdam as Floor van Dijck. Dolores grew up in a musical environment: at a very young age she already played the violin and sang in a children’s choir. Ever since she was thirteen she played in different bands with a variety of styles ranging from krontjong to grunge. Besides the leading lady of the Spinshots Flora is a journalist and has been the bassplayer
of Dutch soulband the Souldiers and member of the van Dijck Sisters. Oh, and she can be a journalist, too.
Bassguitar + backings: Andreas Tscholl. Born in Switzerland, formerly played in Master Stoorworm before he came to Amsterdam and the Spinshots. Andreas studied graphic design at the Rietveld Academy, and works as a grapic designer.
Trombone: Valentin Guenther from Germany. He studies at the Conservatory of
Amsterdam and plays in Circo Simonelli.
Saxophone: Simon Kelaita is from Germany but has Iranian roots. He studied jazz at the conservatory of Utrecht, and also plays in the Sun Prophets and Amariszi.
Trumpet: Ruud ‘Trompie’ Kleiss from Wormerveer finished his study at the conservatory of Alkmaar and plays in the Soulsnatchers and in Rude Rich and the High Notes, and formerly Juicebox.
Drums: Emanuel Wiemans from Amsterdam. Maybe you’ve heard him playing live with Wally Tax, Marcel de Groot, Juicebox, Ross Curry, Richard Janssen or Def P, but beating his kit with the Spinshots reveils a brand new side of his many qualities.
Compositions, Guitar + Backings: Martin Draax, former singer/guitarist of the psychedelic rockband Paxy Dragon, with whom he recorded 3 albums. He played with the Westones, Disaster Nein, Jacqueline Taïeb, and composed music for a variety of Dutch TV programs. Besides composer for the Spinshots, Draax is a graphic designer and shortfilm director.
