В начале 80-х годов он записал один альбом вместе с Саймоном Джеймсом. Другой гитарист Грэг Кармайкл (род. в 1953 году в Лондоне) изучал классическую гитару в Лондонском музыкальном колледже, а затем набирался опыта в работе с различными джазовыми группами. Они выпустили на МСА еще два лонгплея , оба они в звучании напоминали "Sky" в его лучшие времена, были наполнены свежестью и возвышенностью. Диск "Reference Point", записанный уже на фирме GRP, был лишен жизненности и блеска своих предшественников, но с появлением в 1991 году альбома "Back to the Case" высокое качество работы было возвращено. К моменту выпуска альбома "Against the Grain" дуэт несколько изменил концепцию в сторону облегченности. В 1998 г Ник Уэбб умер от рака и группа перестала существовать. В 2000 г. Грэг собрал новый, уже расширенный, состав " Acoustic Alchemy " с музыкантами, с которыми он и Ник и раньше сотрудничали: Терри Дислей (клавишные), Ричард Белл (?) и Майлс Гилдердэйл (гитара). Этим составом и был записан альбом 2000 года "Beautiful Game" . Расширение состава повлекло за собой кардинальное изменение звучания группы: если раньше " Acoustic Alchemy " имел уникальный саунд, сочетавший звучание стальных и нейлоновых струн гитары с великолепной перкуссией и басом, то игра нынешнего состава группы насыщенна электронным звучанием, временами приобретающая эйсид-джазовые оттенки. Это хорошо заметно в композициях "The Panama Cat" и "Trail Blaizer", где гитара Кармайкла с трудом пробивается сквозь плотный частокол электронных барабанных сэмплов синтезатора.
