The second work "Count till Zen" of Reijseger/Fraanje/Sylla is the first jazz release at the beginning of the label's jubilee year 2015. Producer Stefan Winter directs since 30 years – 1985 to 2015 – music recordings for Winter & Winter and JMT. The development of digital computer productions with once undreamt of, manifold manipulation techniques has influenced the work flow in the sound studios in the last couple years tremendously. But instead of utilising all these possibilities, Stefan Winter has decided to strive for simplicity. His belief is that highest musicality can only best unfold when artists are able to build an inextricable oneness with their instrument, the room and the recording technique. "Count till Zen" was produced under exceptional and very special conditions: Singer Mola Sylla, cellist Ernst Reijseger and pianist Harmen Fraanje record the music with only one extraordinary surround microphone. The singularity of Mola Sylla's voice, the distinctive feature of Ernst Reijseger's playing with a 5 string cello, which has been manufactured specifically for him, and of Harmen Fraanje's Steinway concert grand transmits on the most genuine and direct way to the listener. Reijseger, Fraanje and Sylla melt with sound, space and technique. The trio seduces with the plain energy of "unplugged" music and its self-developped music cosmos of very own compositions with fascinating vocal melodies, sensitive grooves and harmonies – with a reposing, lyrical mood. Thus, a magical, deeply convincing, musical flow from jazz and improvisation with African and European influences emerges. Each musician contributes by composing new pieces for this trio. The musical concept is designed together, seldom the saying – tailor-made – fits so perfectly as in this case. So tells "Perhaps" about Mola Sylla's homeland, of Dakar, of Senegal, of the men and women, adults and children, who leave their houses at sunrise, not missing out on a single opportunity in order to not come home with empty hands in the evening. "Bakou" is a term from Senegal. Why do you sell yourself ("bakou"), why do you assume yourself important, why do you believe being a hero. You come to this world with nothing and you cannot take anything with you when you leave. "Falémé" is the river's name where the birth place of Mola Syall's mother is situated. This river is the border between Senegal and Mali. "E Konkon" is a dance rhythm, which went out from Africa to Cuba. "Badola" (very poor people) speaks of the exploitation of the people by politicians and their interests. For votes presents are given out, afterwards these people and their misery sink again into oblivion. "Debenti" is a traditional text, an homage to the prophet Mohammed. In "Out of the Wilderness" an imprisoned bird begs for his freedom: "Let my fly, free me from this cage and being fed. I want to take care of myself.
