Screen Tested is the last recording from the members of the late '80s and '90s. As of today (1999) there are seven new singers under the direction of Rachael Weston who was just beginning her directorship when this was recorded in 1997. Screen Tested is a selection of pieces from films and TV spanning the last six decades. For example, from Stanley Kubrik's '2001: A Space Odyssey' comes "Also Sprach Zarathustra." Other cinema notables are from 'Star Wars,' 'Schindler's List,' 'James Bond,' and numerous musicals. Pay special attention to the theme music from 'Mission: Impossible.' The Swingle Singers have consistently set the standard to which other groups aspire. This track, from the highly regarded 'Screen Tested,' is an example of the impressive versatility and quality of their work, and is proof positive that unaccompanied vocal music has more than enough authority to be heard on its own terms. Their flawless blend and precise intonation alone make for glorious listening.
