You guys who don't know what to say to your lady, just put this on..." The book is good; the CD (now) is great. The best parts? When he recites "Your dress lies against the cheeks and hollows of your thighs like running water." and the sultry saxophone just pulls all the lust and love out of Walter's words right into your ears. And later Arthur says "But you did not come... and I left my glass empty...and went into the streets looking for you." I have never heard a sadder single instrument than the bow to bass on that sorrow. Arthur Prysock (AP), who passed away (last year?), was to This Is My Beloved as James Cleveland was to "Amazing Grace" ,not Joan Baez. AP was to This Is My Beloved as Jimi Hendrix was to "The Star Spangled Banner" ,not Jim Nabors. AP was to This Is My Beloved as Albert King was to the blues, not Mick Jagger. The emotions (love, pain, lust, joy, loneliness) are marvelously woven into the music and words of Prysock and Benton in a way that if you know all those names above you will, and should, run out and get this CD right now. I have recommended this album/CD to every romantic I have ever known. The eleven year love affair that is formed, lived, broken and slowly forgotten ~ each season ~ every year is a testament of a man's love to a women who couldn't stay.
