That potential was quite evident on My Resistance Is Low, which was her second and last album for Either/Orchestra leader Russ Gershon's Accurate label. Greatly influenced by Cool School goddesses June Christy and Chris Connor, but also well aware of Sarah Vaughan, Eade takes her share of chances on this good to excellent sophomore effort. "The Tender Trap" is performed at a surprisingly fast tempo, whereas on Hoagy Carmichael's "My Resistance Is Low," Eade surprises us by slowing the tempo down. Half of the CD's ten selections are Eade originals, and it's evident that she is a strong composer on pieces that range from the angular, Thelonious Monk-influenced "Avenue A" to the reflective "Late Autumn Evening" and the haunting "Out in the Stars." Eade has solid trio accompaniment in pianist Bruce Barth, bassist George Mraz and drummer Lewis Nash, all of whom do their part to make My Resistance Is Low creatively successful.
