Об исполнителе (группе)
Originally founded in 1978 as a North-side Chicago rehearsal band, the Chicago Jazz Orchestra has grown in to a world-class jazz orchestra, highly regarded by the finest musicians in the field. Now entering its 35th anniversary year, the CJO has built a resume that ranks them among the greatest of artistic institutions in Chicago. Artistic Director and founder Jeff Lindberg has infused the orchestra with a spirit of versatility that continues to make the group a favorite performer just about anywhere jazz can be heard. Audiences have the opportunity to hear unique musical arrangements transcribed and written by the CJO, and much of the music presented in these concerts cannot be heard anywhere else.
Among the CJO’s accomplishments are 24 consecutive appearances at the Kennedy Center Honors Gala, a rare “Five Star” Downbeat Magazine rating for its recording Clark Terry and Jeff Lindberg’s Chicago Jazz Orchestra: George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, and recent appearances with an incredible array of guest artists including Ahmad Jamal, Arturo Sandoval, Michael Feinstein, Randy Brecker, Kurt Elling, and many many, more. This year alone, the CJO’s performances will have been seen at some of Chicago’s most impressive venues including the Pritzker Pavillion at Millennium Park, the Auditorium Theatre, Pick-Staiger Concert Hall, the Ravinia Festival, and many more. The CJO, committed to bringing jazz orchestra music to a wide variety of musical tastes, is set to reach more than 20, 000 listeners in the 2012-13 performance season.
Об альбоме (сборнике)
Now entering its 35th year, the Chicago Jazz Orchestra has built a resume that ranks it among the greatest artistic institutions in the city, if not the United States. For their latest recording, director Jeff Lindberg teams the CJO with the quickly emerging vocalist Cyrille Aimée for a diverse album of great jazz classics. Beside the timeless arrangements of Claus Ogerman, Billy May, Paul Weston, Count Basie and Duke Ellington, new arrangements are offered by Diego Figueiredo, Assaf Gleizner, Taylor Eigsti, Cyrille Aimée, and members of the Orchestra. From the standard big band setting to a full studio orchestra with strings, “Burstin’ Out!” offers a sweeping, swinging recording that promises to become a classic.
