A graduate of New England Conservatory of music in Boston, she studied with Jaki Byard who introduced her to Hilton Ruiz who connected her to Mary Lou WIlliams who gave her piano lessons. Miss Farmer also plays Hammond B3 organ and can be heard singing and playing on the Grammy Award winning group Klezmatics release "Brother Moses (Live In Berlin) in 2006.
