С пяти лет она получала частные уроки игры на фортепиано и, как водится, состояла в местном хоровом обществе (Miami Choral Society). В 2007-ом Сесиль переехала во Францию, изучала политологию, а также классический вокал в консерватории им. Дариуса Мило, одним из ее учителей был саксофонист Жан-Франсуа Боннель, с коллективом которого был записан в Париже первый диск певицы, так и названный "Cecile" (2010). В том же году вокалистка добилась большого успеха став победительницей проходившего в Вашингтоне конкурса the Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition, Winner Vocalist! Еще большую известность МакЛорин-Сальван получила после участия в записи прошлогоднего альбома Джеки Террассона "Gouache" (в частности, нельзя не отметить выдающееся исполнение композиции Джона Леннона "Oh My Love").
