Break Loose, Marie MOKATI’s first album, does not set any stylistic borders. Sometimes it sounds like a soft folk melody, other times like an experimental rock song. The band never fears to break musical codes and to create something new. The common link of the songs is the stories’ honesty related by the singer, bandleader and composer Marie Daniels.
The expressive voice of Marie Daniels, the penetrating sound of the guitar mixed with the warm double bass and the experimental playing of the drummer give a wide and dynamic spectrum from a very quiet and fragile sound to a loud noise. The musicians manage to merge jazz/experimental and pop to make them become only one.
