It was a great experience. The musicians on the date were in awe of Hamp and played brilliantly. It was quite an honor for them; after all he is truly one of the great jazz artists of the 20th Century - a giant in American music. Hamp, too, was very impressed with the superb misicianship of his co-players, great young jazz artists like Al Foster, Mike Nock, George Young, John Scoffield, George Devens, and Richard Laird. Together with the Great Hamp they brought new life and fire to the great Bee-Gees' score frome "Saturday Night Fever". This recording brings forth Hamp at his very best. He keeps spinning out new and exciting ideas, always creating, bringing out the very best in all his co-musicians, pushing their enormous talents to the limit. It was a grand experience for me to record this album of contemporary songs with my dear friend, Hamp, and we hope you like it.
