The band was set up in the spring of 2010, after meeting at jazz workshop in Groznjan, Croatia. Fascination with Django Reinhardt's opus as well as love for jazz manouche brought them together which resulted in forming a quintette.
Ever since, they have been playing Django Reinhardt's music, performing in jazz clubs and festivals in Croatia.
In July 2011, Oridano Gypsy Jazz Band won the first prize of First International Jazz Band contest at Liburnia Jazz Festival in Opatija (CRO).
They performed at the Springtime Jazz Session 2011 in Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb where they were presented as new faces of Croatian Jazz.
The band participated in live recording for the 500th episode of the "Time for Jazz" show broadcasted on Croatian National Television in 2011.
Their performance was also noticed at the „PSSST! Silent Film Festival“ 2012 in Zagreb, where they were playing background music for silent movies.
Orjen Ridanovic (lead guitar):
Born in 1985. Currently studying at the VERN' University of Applied Sciences. Attended Rock Academy in Zagreb (1999 – 2003, high school for popular and jazz music).
He attended HGM (Croatian Musical Youth) jazz workshop in Groznjan (2008 – 2010) with the legend of Croatian jazz Bosko Petrovic and other reputable Croatian and European jazz musicians like Elvis Stanic, Ante Gelo and Emil Spanyi. He attended private guitar instructions under the supervision of Mate Matisic (Hot Club Zagreb).
He performed at festival "Jazz is Back" in Groznjan (2008 - 2012), Jazz Festival in Kranj (SLO) (2008 - 2010), Croatian Jazz Parliament at the BP Jazz Club (2008 - 2010) and Springtime Jazz Session 2010. As the member of the "Balwan City Kids" project in 2010 he recorded the CD "Sky Over Groznjan - The Future of Croatian Jazz" in collaboration with Croatia Records which is available in all Croatia Records stores.
Aldo Fosko (clarinet/piano):
Born in 1991. Currently studying at the Music Academy of the University of Zagreb. His elementary musical education started in the city of Pazin, Croatia, under the mentorship of professor Robert Rosanda with the clarinet as the main instrument. He continued his study of clarinet in the Music high school in the city of Pula, under the mentorship of professor Arduino Malpera.
His piano education started in Music elementary school in the city of Pazin, under mentorship of Karim Brkovic and resumed in Pula under the mentorship of Tatiana Sverko. He continued his classical piano studies on Music Academy in Zagreb under mentorship of reputable professor Kamelija Zavrl.
He attended HGM (Croatian Musical Youth) jazz workshop in Groznjan 2009 - 2011 with Bosko Petrovic, Emil Spanyi and Neven Franges.
He performed at festival "Jazz is back" in Groznjan (2009 - 2012) and Jazz festival in Kranj (2011). He won the second prize on the National Competition of Chamber Music in Opatija in 2009. in the category of Clarinet Trio and won a special prize for best jazz group on „Imagine“ competition in Zagreb in 2009. with the group Hot Club de Istra.
Tomi Novak (ac.bass/double bass/ac.guitar)
Born in 1980. Currently works as a musician with various jazz, ethno and pop ensembles in Croatia. Attended acoustic guitar workshop with Woody Mann in Amsterdam (2002); IGS workshop with Bob Brozman, John Cephas and Rene Worst (double bass) in New York (2002 - 2005), guitar workshop in England (Tothnes) and Hungary (Revulop) (2005 - 2009), ethno workshops in Groznjan (CRO) in 2009 and Rattvik (SWE) in 2010. He performed at Cittanova Blues Festival (2002), Croatian Jazz Parliament (2005), Liburnia Jazz Festival (2009), Ethno Festival – Ohrid, Macedonia, (2009), Kastav Blues Festival (2010), Blues sur Seine (France) 2010, World Blues Challenge, Memphis, USA (2011), European Blues Challenge, Berlin, Germany (2011), Stallet Ethno, Stockholm, Sweden (2011), Ethno concert – Copenhagen (2011) and Ethno Concert – Paris (2011)
Mateo Paulisic (guitar) Born in 1991. Currently studying physics at the University of Zagreb. Attended Summer school of Jazz in Grožnjan (CRO) in 2010 in workshops of jazz musicians Ante Gelo and Emil Spanyi, and three years after in a workshop of Elvis Stanić. As a member of Klapa Teran (bass singer), winner of the international competition for ethno vocal groups in Velika Gorica (CRO) in 2009. As a member of Klapa Pižolot (bass singer), winner of the gold prize at the vocal competition "Petrinjski Zvuci" 2011., winner of the 2nd prize at the debutant category of the Festival of Dalmatian Klapa 2012 with performance in the finals. As a member of "Hot Club de Istra" he won the best jazz performance prize at Imagine Festival Croatia 2009.
Dario Fadljevic (guitar):
Born in 1980. His life commitment to music resulted in becoming a regular lecturer and head of guitar courses at the Center for Culture Tresnjevka in Zagreb, Croatia. Dario performed in various pop/rock/blues bands in Croatia, but most notable performances were in a duet with Croatian guitar player Joseph Nezic with whom he played across the country. As a member of Oridano Gypsy Jazz Band he won the first prize of First International Jazz Band contest at Liburnia Jazz Festival 2011 in Opatija, Croatia.
