Like greats as George Shearing and Oscar Peterson, Rob van Bavel has total command over the 88 keys. This is a very fine cd, with fine balads, but Rob also swings hard. Bassist Frans van Geest and veteran drummer John Engels are perfect for the pianist. The cd is very well recorded. It is, strange enough, not out in the Netherlands (Rob's home country), but every jazzlover should buy this Japanese release while you can, because I expect this will become a hard to find collector's item. -- Arnold van Kampen
