October 25th (06:45)   Об исполнителе (группе) Bassist/Composer Avishai Cohen, born April 20, 1970 in Israel, is a musician who has been called a jazz visionary of global proportions by DownBeat, and was declared one of the 100 Most Influential Bass Players of the 20th Century by Bass Player Magazine. Cohen is not only renowned around the world as an influential double bassist and profound composer, but also as a visionary bandleader that is following in the footsteps of Mingus, Dave Holland, Jaco Pastorius, Ray Brown, Charlie Haden, Stanley Clarke, and even Sting. In fact, every move Avishai Cohen makes routinely causes waves of critical praise. http://www.avishaimusic.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avishai_Cohen     Об альбоме (сборнике) The ensemble Triveni is the perfect conduit for the musical explorations of Avishai Cohen, who takes full advantage of the space and freedom this pianoless trio affords. Drawing from hard-bop, straight-up funk, and avant-garde, Nasheet Waits (Drums), Omer Avital (Bass) and Cohen effortlessly move from the American songbook to standards and Cohen's original compositions. Cohen's sometimes provocative and always soulful playing has never sounded so assured as he continues to establish himself as one of his generation's leading musical voices. Although tenor sax/bass/drums trio recordings have been plentiful for decades, a trumpeter plus bass and drums has been an infrequent combination on record. The young Israeli Avishai Cohen is up to the challenge, accompanied by bassist Omer Avital and drummer Nasheet Watts. Cohen's interpretation of Don Cherry's "Art Deco" is playful and lighthearted, while his expressive muted horn in the slow, slinky take of Duke Ellington's oft-recorded "Mood Indigo" would have likely made its composer smile. Watts introduces John Coltrane's mystical "Wise One" alone, with Avital added just prior to the leader's entrance; the lack of piano or other horns doesn't keep Cohen from working his magic during a lengthy exploration of the tenor giant's haunting melody. The one standard is a straight-ahead rendition of Cole Porter's "You'd Be so Nice to Come Home To," with Avital's walking bass and Watts' brushwork providing a solid backdrop for Cohen's buoyant, inventive trumpet. Also not to be missed are the trumpeter's originals, especially his funky, street-wise "October 25th" and his furious opener "One Man's Idea.     Состав Avishai Cohen - Trumpet Omer Avital - Bass Nasheet Waits - Drums
