Their compositions are based on the dialogue between oud and piano which results in a European Mediterranean sound with elements from Greece, North Africa, the Middle East and western jazz. In may 2008 they released their debut called Dunes which was well received in the international press. Chemsi is the second CD of Hijaz and exposes a more mature group, further deepening the harmonious interplay between piano and oud and experimenting with more adventurous rhythmic patterns. With the help of some guests (Edouard Prabhu, Houssem Ben El Khadi and Tcha Limberger), the group is extremely proud of a the result. Chemsi will be released 21st of February and will be presented to the public in spring 2011 in Belgium and the United Kingdom.~ Zephyrus RecordsWORLDMUSIC.CO.UK
