The album consists of five interrelated pieces made of dozens of loops. Acoustic and soft electric guitars, percussion, found-sounds and turntable surface noise cycle left and right, forming ever-changing figures. Part musique concrète, part Oren Ambarchi-esque guitar soundscapes, the music also features an extra element of understated melodicism in the first two pieces. The result is less immediate and seductive than Gesine. It also feels more restless: Ielasi seems eager to fill the stereo spectrum, quickly getting his loops in motion at the beginning of every track, and constantly pushing new items into the picture. The sample-heavy feel of the music also strips away some of its distinctive qualities. The previous album could only be the work of Ielasi, it bore his unmistakable mark, whereas this CD brings to mind the work of other artists, including sample tricksters like Fennesz and Saluki Regicide. The music may be more cinematic and hypnotic, but it carries a lesser emotional charge and fails to strike as particularly original or unique.
