Об исполнителе (группе)Born: June 12, 1982 Instrument: VocalA forward thinking vocalist and composer, Tammy Scheffer's music makes an imaginative use of her voice and her group's instrumentation to create new textures and a personal, fresh sound. In her debut recording for Inner Circle Music, “Wake Up, Fall Asleep”, she puts her own spin on the well known “When You Wish Upon A Star”, and fully expresses a wide musical world in her original wordless compositions. In the words of saxophonist Greg Osby, who attended the recording session: “The music was vibrant, personal and exceptional. It was an amazing session”.A native of Belgium who grew up in Israel, Tammy was first introduced to jazz music in high school, and started performing professionally at the age of 18. She quickly gained recognition in the Israeli jazz scene, and performed extensively with a quartet she co-lead with guitarist Assaf Kehati. In 2007 she received a scholarship to attend the prestigious New England Conservatory, and moved to the United States. Since her arrival Tammy took part in various projects, performing at premier venues all over the country. In 2008 she toured with Ayelet Rose Gotlieb’s project “Mayim Rabim”, and performed at PS 122 and Drom Club in NY, Chicago Cultural Center, Alevrno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and other premier venues. In March 2008 she has been chosen to participate in the exclusive Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead workshop in Washington DC, which included three concerts on the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage. Other notable performances include the Virginia Arts Festival, the Regattabar and Scullers Jazz Clubs in Boston, the Jazz Standard and Cornelia Street Cafe in NYC and the Tel Aviv Jazz Festival in Israel.Recently Tammy participated in Michael Feinberg’s latest album, “Evil Genius” (2009), and in saxophonist Brian Hogans’ album, “Evidence of Things to Come” (2010, Turnaround Records). In recent years she worked with an expanding circle of musicians, including Aaron Goldberg, Anat Fort, Sam Barsh, Luques Curtis, Jeff Berlin, Kevin Mahogany, and Obed Calvaire. Tammy is a recipient of a scholarship from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation.
