Об исполнителе (группе)The three members of this trio (active from 1999 to 2001) are all born and musically raised in Sicily and this record is a splendid example of that buoyant jazz scene. Saxophone player "Joraku" Gianni Gebbia is one of the most creative musicians in Italy and an outstanding solo player. He has played with many of european and american radical improvisers and, if you don't know him, I really suggest to look for his recordings. The trumpet is played by Rosario "Roy" Paci. This enormously talented musician is nowadays most know as a Manu Chao sideman and companion, but, listening to the music he creates here, one can only hope that he will again play in these non conventional contexts now or then. Drummer Francesco Cusa is an active element in many avant-garde projects and one of the founders of the Bassesfere's collective. Here, is the perfect engine that lights up the two blowers' pyrotechnic dialogues. As suggested since from the cover (designed by Gebbia) and the tracks' titles, Trionacria's creative music is full of understatement. The concept is of course not knew, but the empathy among the three is so high that the result is excellent.Sicilian avant jazz core with strong Ornette's influences featuring trumpet wizard Roy Paci on trumpet, Gianni Gebbia on alto sax and francesco Cusa on drums.
This band has been playing in some of the most famous jazz festival as The Northsea jazz festival in Den Haag. Trionacria has also been featured as coupled band with Masada at the Festa della Musica in Milan.Gianni Gebbia

He is mainly a self-tought musician, but he took part to various clinics and drums stages, among which "Siena Jazz", where he studied with Bruno biriaco, Roberto Gatto and Ettore Fioravanti. He also gradueted at DAMS ( Department of Arts, Music and Show at Bologna University) discussing a work about the 'extramusical elements in the jazz performance', and studied composition with M°Alfredo Impullitti.
In 1988 he moves to Bologna and starts collaborating with Fabrizio Puglisi, Stefano De Bonis, Guglielmo Pagnozzi, Domenico Caliri, Cristina Zavalloni, Alberto Capelli, Riccardo Pittau, Mirko Sabatini, Lullo Mosso, Edoardo Marraffa and other young talents standing out in the Bologna scene. They give birth together to the musical association BASSESFERE, an ensemble which aims at promoting improvised music and increasing the research in that field. Об альбоме (сборнике)Man, this is great! To the extent that I laughed out loud from the sheer pleasure of listening to these guy's having fun with music. Free, intense, rhythmic, funky, wild at times, subdued at others (though rarely). The band consists of Gianni Gebbia on sax, Rosario Paci on trumpet and Francesco Cusa on drums, all three from Sicily and all three excellent musicians. The tracks are short and compact, there are no long blowing sessions, but focused, concise little work-outs, often with a kind of melodic theme and some pre-conceived structural component, and the rest is wild and joyful interaction. This is music as intense, fresh, muscular and direct as it gets. Don't miss it.
