Mixed by Tibor Szemzo, Laszlo Hortobagyi (1,3) and Istvan Horvath (2) Sound installation: Revox G36 tube tape recorder, four Orion AR 612 "Pacsirta" (Skylark) tube radios This music was first released on Leo Records LR 151, 1987 Tibor Szemzó is a Hungarian composer and flautist who appears to revel in static rhythms and new age sonorities. His three pieces on this recording use repetition, minimalist structures, and limited tonal palette to achieve his results, which tend to be mired in tedious permutations. The opening "Snapshot from the Island" features the composer on flutes, drum computer, and "sound installation" (tube tape recorder and tube radios). The middle piece, "Water-Wonder," adds Lászlo Hortobágyi on synthesizer, while the final "Let's Go out and Dance" features Szemzó with "The Birds of Comecon." This as all "deep listening" music, where changes occur slowly, waves gently flow, and individual improvisation is measured in yards rather than inches.
