The band has quickly became one of the top groups in Finnish jazz scene. AHQ plays pianist/band leader Aapo Heinonen's compositions - instrumental jazz played by acoustic piano trio (piano, bass and drums) confirmed with different saxophones and electric guitar. Influences can be heard from contemporary jazz and world music to Balkan rhythms and film score with scandinavian flavour. These elements make combination of sometimes even spiritually harmonic mood. Then, soon behind the corner there is a handful of sparkling and youthful riffs and grooves which make you want to hear some more. Although there are far composed and arranged sections in many songs, at least one part of the tunes is composed mainly on the lookout for improvisation. One could think this to be more like big band music played by small ensemble at least when it comes to arcs of compositions. AHQ's primary sound is genuinely positive and the final message however is that music is one joyful thing! AHQ's debut album "A Daydream Between Nightmares" (Presence Records) was released at March 2010. It has got good appointment for both critics and audience. Next album ”Healing Flows” will be released internationally through Naxos Music Label (Prophone Records) af February 2013.
