Pianist, Composer, Bandleader from Copenhagen, has released close to 20 albums as a bandleader and co-leader since his debut in 2001. The vast majority of these are in the ILK catalogue. He has received numerous awards and has been hailed by the international press as an outstanding voice in contemporary music. He has performed in most countries in the western hemisphere with his own projects. His euvre encompasses everything from improvised works in small groups to almost thouroughly composed mateiral for larger ensembles, and from activities routed in the diverse traditions he is coming out of as well as music obviously moving beyond these traditions.His music generally strongly incorporates the personal expressions of each participating musician, be it in terms of improvisation, colouring, or as hybrid new ways of bridging the continuum between composed and undefined. On top of this, more recently, there has also been several projects with classically trained musicians, playing more exactly composed material of his, with or without Anderskov himself participating in the performances as and added improvisor or leader. Among the bands he has been forming and leading are ANDERSKOV ACCIDENT, AGNOSTIC REVELATIONS, JACOB ANDERSKOV’s STRINGS PERCUSSION & PIANO, JACOB ANDERSKOV TRIO, AIRTO MOREIRA - JACOB ANDERSKOV DUO, JACOB ANDERSKOV SOLO, JACOB ANDERSKOV PÅ DANSK ("in Danish"), AN AUF & DOCTOR STRUCTURE.Jacob Anderskov graduated from Rhythmic Music Conservatory, Copenhagen in 2002. He has also studied at the University of Copenhagen (Music Science), and has been taking private lessons with numerous teachers during a 1 year stay in New York 1999-2000. He was one of the founding members of ILK (2003-2004), and the first ILK chairman (2004-2008).  Об альбоме (сборнике)On Unity of Action, Rhodes player and composer Jacob Anderskov has the enviable task of writing pieces for a front line that can at any time consist of trumpet, cornet, alto sax, clarinet, tenor sax, bass clarinet, and trombone. The colors at his disposal seem limitless. But many writers have become stymied by all this choice, instead presenting music that is stilted and overly determined.Anderskov instead has brought material that is loose, varied and fun, making this octet more of a dynamic small group than a brass-heavy large ensemble. His Mwandishi-like rhythm section of Rhodes, electric bass and pounding drums assures listeners this is not another foray into "blat-blat, blat-blat-blat" big band charts. There is precedent to this looser approach in Sun Ra, Zappa, the Brotherhood of Breath, and Soft Machine.But Unity of Action is not a pastiche of time-tested approaches, or at least it does not come across as such. The best description is that it sounds like what the Dave Holland Big Band could sound like if it just lightened up a little bit and stopped being so precise. This is not to say that Anderskov and his bandmates are sloppy or undisciplined.
