Now integrated within this shimmering context of pure emphasis on the immediate, is the New York vocal and lyric artist Shelley Hirsch who once said that the body is the largest recording and storage medium.Shelley Hirsch, based in Brooklyn, NYC, is one of the most astonishing vocalists of improvised music. She is not only a singer, but a composer and performance artist as well. Since the 80s she has fostered a friendship with Hans Koch and Martin Schütz. She was part of the ensemble X-Communication which the two Swiss men had founded with Butch Morris. The jazz critic Harry Lachner writes about the the music of Koch-Schütz-Studer with Shelley Hirsch: "A unique poetry of the now, telling of the waywardness and drift of language … full of lust and humour, lascivious and rebellious".
