Обложка

Доп. информация: The title doesn’t say it, but this is 1 of a pair of live recordings made in 1981 during performances at Keystone Korner in San Francisco. Getz was less chemically dependent at the time, was in fine fettle, the club audience was appreciative, & Phil Edward’s engineering for Concord Jazz was superb as always in capturing the moment. Getz’ silky tone was always his big calling card, & with this great hi-res reissue it can be heard close up just how fantastic it was. All 7 tracks are standards, with a couple (How About Your & Old Devil Moon) receiving almost 10-minute creative improvisations. I found a little Pro Logic II on a multichannel system added a terrific feeling of being right in that club in SF.

Об альбоме (сборнике)
This session from 1981, was recorded at the same time as “The Dolphin” at the old palace of jazz in San Francisco, the Keystone Korner. Stan Getz possessed talent that placed him in the list of the best tenor players of his time. When these sessions occurred, he seemed close to the epitome of his career.
Produced by Concord founder Carl Jefferson, this is another jewel of an album from the Concord Jazz catalogue. A classic live recording from the Keystone Korner jazz club in San Francisco & with great sound, this is vintage late Getz & includes some of his best performances of standards like “Easy Living,” “Sweet Lorraine,” “Old Devil Moon,” “I’m Old Fashioned” & the title track. Now out of print on regualar CD, this SACD reissue will only enhance what is already an excellent Getz title. It was recorded at the same sessions that resulted in The Dolphin but were not released until after Stan Getz’s death. Actually the music is the equal of the original set, showing off Getz’s tone & strong improvising skills at its best.
